Sundays in my city

Unknown Mami

Ok well I lied, it was actually Saturday. And it isn't my city, but it is nearby. :) I hope you enjoy it nontheless.

These photos were taken in Gundelsheim:

Gundelsheim is a town in the district of Heilbronn in Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany.
It is situated on the right bank of the Neckar, 17 km northwest of Heilbronn. The town centre retains its narrow mediaeval street plan, as well as much of its mediaeval timber architecture. Pickled gherkin manufacture and wine-growing are the two principal agricultural products, and the Neckarsulm-Gundelsheim Weingärtnergenossenschaft (vintner's co-operative) is reputed to be the oldest in all of Germany.
The most remarkable building in Gundelsheim is Castle Horneck, a former residence of the Teutonic order.

This is the view of the Neckar from the Castle walls.

The castle was built in 1420 and was given to the Teutonic Order by Konrad von Horneck in 1438, thereby making it the seat of the "Deutschmeister" (German Order of Chivalry) until it was destroyed in 1525 by fire during the Peasants' War. Despite reconstruction shortly after Horneck Castle's destruction, Mergentheim became the new headquarters for the Teutonic Order in that region in 1527. Götz von Berlichingen died in Horneck Castle in 1562.
As of 2006 the castle was occupied by an altenheim (a nursing home for the elderly) as well as the Transylvanian Museum.

This is one of the gateways up to the castle. On the right hand side is a monument to those who died from the city in WWII.

On the left hand side is an old house for sale, the front door has Forstamt (forest service) written on the top, I told hubby I want to buy it lol.

This is the view over Gundelsheim.

And for the holiday, the crucifix from the Catholic church.

I hope you all have a fabulous Easter!!
